Kids Draw Architecture: Aspiring artists and architects work directly with local experts and learn drawing skills with an introduction to our history and culture through our art and architecture, and learn about the historical significance of the mission. Meet at the Human Rights Education Institute and get transported to the Cataldo Mission east of Coeur d'Alene.
Check-in 9:00 am at the Human Rights Education Institute (located at 414 Mullan Rd, Coeur d’Alene on the edge of the Coeur d’Alene City Park across from the carrousel). Shuttle bus leaves promptly at 9:30 am.
• Part 1 - Setting the Scene – Presentation by Kevin Jester, Architects West
• Part 2 - Tips for Drawing Architecture – Group teaching session on sketching architecture
• Part 3 - Small group, on-site sketching under the guidance of architects and artists of Historic Cataldo Mission, Jesuit House, cemetery and grounds.
• Part 4 – Submit two of your best drawings for display at HREI.
Lunch and snacks are provided. Each student receives a sling bag, t-shirt, art supplies, and sketch book to take home. Selected pieces of art from each student will be used in a publication to be announced later.
